Blue Ladies

An exhibition of paintings by Kostas Spanakis with the title “Blue Ladies 2” will be held at the Megalo Arsenali from Monday 13th May to Saturday 18th May. The exhibition, which is being held jointly by the Regional Unit of Chania and the Municipality of Chania, represents a continuation of the “Blue Ladies” exhibition which was held at the Polykentro of Voukolies in November 2022.

In Kostas Spanakis’ work, the “Blue Ladies”of the famous wall paintings at Knossos journey from the Bronze Age to the present day to experience the beauty and the comforts of modern life. The Chaniot artist has created a mythical character based on the emancipated women of Minoan Crete, who through his works enjoy the art, the fashion, music, travel and technology of the modern age from the Sixties until the present day. They interact and converse with other characters from the word of comics and other forms of pop art.

On show will be 31 medium- and large-size oil paintings, most of which are appearing for the first time, while there are some from the first exhibition to add context for those those who did not have the opportunity to see it.

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place on Monday 13th May at 20:30. It is open daily from 11:00 to 15:00 and 19:00 to 23:00.
