As announced by the Regional Unit of Chania, as a result of the ongoing bad weather, Independence Day Parades are being cancelled across the Nomos, although in most cases, the associated Services of Remembrance and wreath laying at local war memorials are still taking place.

Specifically:
The Municipality of Apokoronas has announced that the parades planned in Vryses and Vamos are cancelled in view of the latest weather information. The Memorial Services will take place at the churches in Vryses and Vamos, honouring the national and religious dimension of the anniversary.
The services will be attended by school representatives with their flags, and the laying of wreaths will be carried out by official bodies only.
The Municipality of Platanias has announced that because of the adverse weather conditions forecast by the National Meteorological Service, the planned parades by school children for the 25th March in Alikianos, Voukolies and Kolymbari will not take place, for reasons of the pupils’ safety.
The Municipality of Kantanos-Selino has decided to cancel the pupils’ parades at Kantanos and Kampanos on 25th March, given the exceptionally heavy rainfall in some districts, resulting in an increased danger of flooding.
The cancellation affects only the parades – the Memorial Service and the laying of wreaths at Kantanos and Kampanos will not be cancelled and will take place as planned.
Similar cancellations are taking place in Rethymnon and Heraklion.
