With the election of the new Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronas scheduled for Friday 2^nd May, the day had dawned wet and blustery as the members of the Synod, their black robes flapping in the wind, entered the precinct of the Cathedral of Agios Minas in Heraklion, the headquarters of the Archbishopric of Crete where the Synod was due to take place.
