The Afrata Honey Festival, originally scheduled for 17th July but cancelled because of the death of Stefanos Skarakis, will now take place on Wednesday 21st August – at the end of the customary 40-day mourning period.

The information provided on the posters now appearing in the Kolymbari area is minimal, apart from announcing that music will be provided, as last year, by Petros Maroulis and his group. However, on the basis of last year’s event it can be assumed that it will start at 9.00 pm, with the live music starting around 10.00 pm or after, and the tickets at €5.00 covering admission and a sample plate of honey and other local produce, while food and drink will be available to order from the bar. The event will take place in the forecourt of the Old School in Afrata, which is some 200 metres from the Plateia on the road to Astratigos.
Last year’s Honey Festival, coming after a gap due to the pandemic, was a great success, with a total of 850 guests having been catered for by the end of the evening. We hope for the organisers that this success will be repeated this year.
