Civil wedding ceremonies
According to a statement on the website of the Municipality of Kissamos:
“In accordance with the law on the equality of sexes, prospective spouses are obliged to declare, before the wedding, the surname of any children which may be born. This may be that of the husband or the wife, or of the two of them, but in no case can more than two surnames be declared. The fee for civil wedding ceremonies is €30.00, payable in advance by paravolo to the municipality.
“During the wedding ceremony, each prospective spouse must be accompanied by one witness, who must be an adult. The witness can be a relative, including those of the first degree. Witnesses must have with them their ID card, or their passport if they are not Greek.”
