Travellers who rely on Greece’s national airline Aegean to come to Crete in the winter months will not be surprised to learn that it has been judged Best Regional Airline in Europe for the 15th consecutive year, and the 16th year in its 27-year operational history, at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2026.
Also, the airline once more retained 4th position in the ranking of Best Regional Airline in the World, and ranked 40th in the Top 100 Airlines in the World. Singapore Airlines was named top airline with Qatar Airways and Cathay Pacific in 2nd and 3rd places, while in the Best Regional Airline ranking the first three places were taken by Bangkok Airways, the Toronto-based Porter Airlines and Virgin Australia.
According to an Aegean press released published on 21st September: “This latest recognition from Skytrax, the International Airline Rating Organisation Survey, is a significant recognition of the trust and appreciation of Aegean’s passengers, while also underscoring the airline’s continued commitment to quality, service excellence and the ongoing enhancement of the travel experience.”
The Skytrax World Airline Awards are widely regarded as the global benchmark for airline excellence. The winners are determined exclusively by travellers themselves, through the world’s largest passenger satisfaction survey, and for this reason they are often referred to as the “Oscars of the aviation industry”. The Awards event was held in London on 18th September at the Langham Hotel, where representatives of the company received the award along with cabin crew members.
