OiNotika wine fair returns to Kolymbari

OiNotika 24, the 16th in the series of wine fairs organised by Wines of Crete, will be held this coming weekend at the Avra Imperial Hotel in Kolymbari. Visitors will be able to sample both new and old vintages from 35 Cretan wineries, to talk to the winemakers and to find out about the other promotional activities of Wines of Crete. There will also be a sales counter where Cretan wines can be bought at a nominal price, with part of the proceeds going to the Orizontas volunteer association.

Masterclass “New entries”: an opportunity to sample the new wines on offer this year in Crete. Yro Koliakoudaki, Dip WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust), has brought together the new offers from all the wineries and will provide detailed information on each of the wines tasted.

Sunday, 15:30-16:30
Seminar in English: “Get to know the wines in your new home. Introduction to Cretan Wines”. The seminar is designed for new arrivals from abroad who are living on the island. Sommelier Anna Maria Kabouraki will talk about the history of Cretan wine, about Cretan grape varieties and regions, and will conclude with a guided wine tasting.

The entrance fee for each seminar is €10.00, and participants will also need to have paid the main entrance fee for the fair.

Wines of Crete wineglass

A Wines of Crete wineglass and a notebook are included in the ticket price.


During the fair, visitors will be able to obtain information about a new collaboration of Wines of Crete, the Wine Man Tour, which is being organised by the University of Geisenheim in Germany, in collaboration with the University of West Attica, the Hellenic Mediterranean University and other academics and third parties from the world of wine. The aim is to set up a post-graduate programme on wine tourism.
