Further to our two recent posts on the subject of the obligation of property owners to clear their land of extraneous vegetation before the start of the no-fires season, the government has now announced an extension of the deadline from 30th April to 15th June. This is welcome news since, apart from taking the pressure off property owners, it also is a reprieve for the many wildflowers which currently decorate the countryside and which are no doubt a haven for all kinds of wildlife and therefore contribute to the much prized biodiversity.
