Red Arrows to perform at Battle of Crete memorial

The Red Arrows


The RAF’s aerobatic team, the Red Arrows, will be participating in the events commemorating the 83rd anniversary of the Battle of Crete from 20th to 26th May. They will be flying over the Venetian Harbour in Chania where they last performed in 2011, having also given a display at Maleme in 2021. The provisional programme of events, which has still to be confirmed, is as follows:

Monday 20th May
10:30 Municipality of Kandanos-Selino – Floria War Memorial.

Tuesday 21st May
11:00 Red Arrows display over the Firka Fortress and the Old Harbour of Chania
11:30 Municipality of Sfakia – Monument to the Fallen, Sfakia harbour
19:30 Municipality of Kissamos – Kallergiana crossroads.

Wednesday 22nd May
Municipality of Apokoronas – Agioi Pantes, Agia Sophia Foundation.

Thursday 23rd May
11:00 Kolymbari – Cadets’ Monument
18:30 Nea Hora harbour – Monument to Fallen Citizens.

Friday 24th May
11:00 Firka Fortress, Chania – Ceremonial raising of the national flag.
Visit to the Naval Museum, presentation of new exhibits
13:30 Tsikalaria – ANZAC 42nd Street Memorial
18:30 Galatas – Memorial to Greek New Zealanders.

Saturday 25th May
11:00 Alikianos – Keritis War Memorial
13:00 Agia – Golgothas memorial
18:30 Souda – Allied War Cemetery.

Sunday 26th May
11:00 Chania Cathedral – Memorial Service
11:30 The Old Harbour, Chania – Flag Parade of the Traditional Associations of Chania.
13:30 Maleme – German War Cemetery,
18:30 Maleme Aerodrome – Closing ceremony at the Monument to the Battle of Crete.
